Alejandro Moro presents his initiative “The Seed and The Tree”.

The Seed and The Tree
is a project that will be born in the year 2021 and is committed to undertake a revolution in the way of growing and consuming food. That is, the search to harmonize the strengthening of the planet’s health as well as the creation of a network of micro-farms that can provide food and well-being to local citizens.

In addition, this project includes the maintenance of an orchard located in Vegas del Jarama, in the municipality of Velilla de San Antonio. Unlike the large extensions of cultivation, which dominate the Spanish territory, this orchard is only about 1000 square meters. The working method is included in the bio-intensive model, with permanent beds, narrow aisles and high planting densities in order to maximize the use of space. The farming philosophy can be summarized as: minimum soil tillage, soil regeneration through compost and the use of low-tech tools.

Alejandro Moro is the name of the young promoter of this initiative who, in addition to being a horticulturist, is a trainer in organic agriculture. It has more than seven years of experience in organic and regenerative agriculture. In the year 2021, she will begin her entrepreneurial journey at the Tomillo Foundation. Program support has consisted of technical advice and training for the design of their business model, registration as self-employed, financial assistance through a non-repayable grant and the support of an expert to work on specific issues related to the start-up of the project, through the Mentoring Program.

One year after the start of the activity, the project continues to grow and Alejandro has requested financing through the Social Microcredit program managed by the Youth Business Spain network. Through this instrument, the entrepreneur will be able to acquire the necessary tools and resources to expand production and reduce crop risks.
