How do Tomillo students face a job interview?

One of the most important moments for any young person is facing their first job interview. How to control nerves? How should I dress? How do I greet? Is it better to talk a lot or let them ask me?

All these questions have been answered during the Vocational Guidance Days organized every year in Tomillo. Corporate volunteers and students of Basic and Intermediate Vocational Training have simulated what a selection process is like, being for some of them, their first experience, fundamental to approach the reality that they will live outside the classroom.

First, the students participated in a group dynamic with volunteers from the different companies and Tomillo’s counselors, and then, two individual mock interviews were conducted, giving feedback to each student, so that the aspects and competencies identified in the first interviews could be corrected in the second mock interview by being aware of their own strengths and weaknesses.

In this feedback, some of the tips they worked on were verbal expression, body posture, non-verbal communication, eye contact, knowledge of the curriculum, argumentation in the answers, self-knowledge, personal image or greeting and farewell.

The companies that participated in this corporate volunteering activity were: Alsea Group, Mohari Hospitality, Iberdrola, Morgan Stanley, MacQuaire, Cinven and Telefónica.

These Orientation Workshops are part of the project E20 Future Development 2023 project funded by the Community of Madrid (Call 0.7).
