During the afternoon of Thursday, May 9, and thanks to the impulse of the PROA+ program, we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with students and their families, to share our experience and knowledge about such a fundamental aspect as the accompaniment of young people.
The objective of the meeting was to make visible the model of accompaniment of students from the Vocational Guidance with families, in addition to offering guidance on alternative training and employment paths for their sons and daughters.
In Tomillo we understand vocational guidance as a process of socio-educational accompaniment that contributes to discover and value who and how I am, and where I want to go, appreciating vocations as a fundamental lever for our purpose: to be able to make a responsible and satisfactory decision making in relation to professional objectives, knowing which studies, occupations and jobs are more suitable to the person.
The meeting was opened by Ángel Serrano, General Director of the Tomillo Foundation, who welcomed the families and shared some inspiring words with the students. Afterwards, we held a workshop to address doubts about the educational itineraries, answering typical questions through an on-line game, such as: If my daughter is in Basic Vocational Training, what can she do when she finishes? How can my child know the careers or vocational training that exist? How can I know if my daughter is choosing the studies that are best for her, etc.?
And what better way to end the afternoon than with a delicious snack? To close the meeting, we enjoyed a snack prepared and served by the students of the CIMTO program. This real service activity is part of the CIMTO program, as an internship for the students in their educational project.
Mixed tables were formed with different families and it was a way to meet and get to know other family members of Tomillo participants. The professionals were passing by the tables and chatting about the orientation questions that arose.
