State Award for the Best Volunteer Program 2025

The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 has awarded Fundación Tomillo the State Volunteer Award for the Best Annual Program, a recognition that values the quality and impact of the entity’s volunteer program.

This award is an institutional endorsement of a way of understanding volunteering as a central part of the intervention model of Fundación Tomillo, aimed at promoting the growth and employability of young people in vulnerable situations.

“Participate with Tomillo is not only a volunteer program, it is a way for the active exercise of citizenship and the fulfillment of the mission of the Tomillo Foundation to transform lives and build a future together with more than 400 volunteers who individually or as corporate volunteers contribute their vocation to help, commitment and talent to provide children, adolescents and young people with new references, expectations and expertise or to complement the work of the Foundation’s teams.”said Belén Gómez Penalonga, Responsible for Volunteering in Tomilloat the awards ceremony, held on November 27 in Pamplona, during the XXIV State Volunteer Congress.

What the jury valued about Tomillo’s volunteer program

When awarding the prize, the jury especially highlighted the way in which the Tomillo Foundation accompanies the volunteers and the soundness of the program. Among the aspects highlighted were the following “A model of volunteering that accompanies with rigor and also with closeness, supported by clear objectives and continuous evaluation. He also highlighted the existence of a solid structure that takes care of the experience of the people who donate their time to contribute to the purpose of promoting the growth and employability of young people in vulnerable situations. “

Finally, the jury valued very positively the clear alignment of the program with the 2030 Agenda, as well as the networking with organizations and companies, thanks to which Fundación Tomillo now has more than 400 active volunteers per year.

An appreciation of the essence of Tomillo

This award is especially significant for Tomillo Foundation because it recognizes that volunteering is part of its essence. The volunteers:

  • amplify the impact of the programs,
  • connect the entity with the community and new perspectives,
  • and contribute to building real opportunities for underprivileged youth.

This reinforces Tomillo Foundation’s commitment to quality volunteerism, transforming and aligned with the 2030 Agenda, and recognizes the contribution of more than 400 volunteers who each year make it possible to continue opening roads to the future for hundreds of young people. It also encourages us to work with more strength and motivation for 2026, the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, with the conviction that collaboration multiplies opportunities for young people.
