On October 28, the Tomillo Foundation is organizing “Futuro sobre la Mesa” in Madrid, an event aimed at companies in the hospitality and restaurant industries to share solutions for attracting, recruiting, and retaining young talent. The event will include an analysis of the new challenges in the labor market, presentations by experts, and a cooking demonstration featuring young people trained at Tomillo.
The hospitality and restaurant industries are facing one of their biggest challenges: finding professionals, bringing in new talent, and encouraging people to stay and grow within the sector.
How can a company become a place where young talent wants to work? What do young people value when choosing a job? What challenges do companies face in filling their open positions? How can the expectations of both sides be brought closer together?
To address these questions, the Tomillo Foundation is organizing “Futuro sobre la Mesa”, a forum for companies, professionals, and young people to come together to analyze common challenges in the sector and develop solutions tailored to the realities of the hospitality industry.
A gathering to understand the new needs of young talent
The event will give participating companies a firsthand look at the needs, motivations, and concerns of young people who may soon be joining their teams.
Over the course of a morning, representatives from the hospitality and restaurant industries will have the opportunity to share experiences, identify common challenges, and reflect on the new realities of the job market alongside experts in training, career guidance, and job placement.
The goal is to foster a dialogue that helps create more attractive and inclusive work environments capable of promoting professional development and retaining talent.
Young talent takes center stage both inside and outside the kitchen
One of the highlights of the event will be a live cooking demonstration , during which young participants in the Tomillo’s vocational training and employment training programs will showcase their professional skills in the kitchen and front of house.
This experience will allow companies to get to know the talent currently being developed, observe their skills in a practical setting, and gain insight into the stories, expectations, and aspirations of those who want to build their professional future in the sector.
The event will conclude with a reception and a networking session among the participating companies, the Tomillo Foundation team, and the young participants.

Tomillo Foundation: Training and Employment in the Hospitality Industry
The Tomillo Foundation has extensive experience in providing training, guidance, and support to help vulnerable young people find employment.
In 2025, nearly 400 young people received training in hospitality-related fields, such as culinary arts, restaurant operations, front-of-house, and customer service. More than 50% of them found employment, thanks to personalized support and the collaboration of a network of more than 330 companies.
The relationship with the business community is an essential part of Tomillo’s model. Collaboration with companies makes it possible to tailor training to the actual needs of the market, facilitate internships, and create job opportunities for talented young people who need a first chance.
Futuro sobre la Mesa was created with the goal of strengthening this connection between education and business and moving toward a hospitality sector capable of attracting, developing, and retaining its professionals.
