40 years accompanying young people to enhance their growth and employability

Tomillo students, the real protagonist at the Open House Day

The Open Day is one of the most important events of the year for those of us who make up the Tomillo Foundation, a very special day. It is the day when young people show and share, through testimonies, activities and workshops, what they have learned throughout the course. In Tomillo Foundation we always put the young people at the center, but on the Open Day, they are the only and true protagonists.

On Thursday, April 27th, we celebrated, once again, Tomillo’s Open House. Throughout the day there was a wide variety of information stands, Asian cuisine and fruit cocktail workshops, rhythm classes, virtual reality sessions, beauty consulting, entrepreneurship games, social and labor orientation workshops… which gave the opportunity to bring the attendees closer to the projects we carry out.

But the best proof of the young people’s journey and the talent they develop is their active participation as organizers of the day: ambassadors in welcoming visitors, guides throughout the different spaces where the day took place and facilitators of the programmed activities:

  • Approach to the offer of formal training and training for employment in the fields of computer science, electricity and electronics, administration, hospitality, beauty, etc. and development of hardware maintenance activities, 2D laser cutting, arduino, awareness for an efficient home, virtual reality, makeup, drinks corner, fruit cocktails, ham cutting or Vietnamese roll … that left us with a very good taste in our mouths.
  • Information and workshops on socio-labor orientation and entrepreneurship program.
  • Rhythm and movement workshops that allowed to approach the Performing Arts Space.
  • Dynamics, workshops and information on Supporting School Success.
  • Approach to projects such as Oportunidad al Talento and Ubuntu.

With such a broad and diverse agenda, it is not surprising the fantastic response received from public and private entities, educational centers, guidance counselors, teachers, families and young people interested in continuing their training and employability in Tomillo. Thanks to the nearly 300 people who came to join us.
